SCATTERHEAD
Adrian started out as a friend of a friend, and someone who was part of some creative projects that I was aware of, but was never involved enough to meet him. He reached out in April 2021 after seeing some of my screen printing and design work. He was starting a brand called SCATTERHEAD, which was his place to create designs and pieces which explored his interests. The name was a reference to his challenges with mental health, and a nod to his slightly unkempt fro of hair that he had at the time. The first set of prints that I did for him were all his designs, and I was simply the manufacturer.
After talking back and forth and completing the first set of prints, we decided to team up. I also had a big ass fro at the time and similar interests, so it felt right to join forces and develop SCATTERHEAD as a joint effort. We both put a lot of love into rollout details and designs, but also just had fun with the process of making artifacts of the things we enjoyed.
Working with Adrian was a lot of fun. We got excited about ideas, and then made the plans to make em happen. We spent a lot of time out and about, whether it was shooting videos or photos, or at first Fridays trying to sell tees. We were planning a multimedia event for a while, even scouting locations, but that eventually fell through when we realized how much that kind of thing would cost.
Here are some unused ideas that I designed:
As I got busier with SABER, Adrian and I decided that we had larger things to work on. He went back to his old brand name HELLBENT, and focused on music and event planning with a couple of his friends.
No bridges were burned, and in fact, we came back together to put on HELLBENT NIGHT 2022. It was a collaboration between SABER and HELLBENT. My role was promotion and design work, which ended up manifesting as some posters that I still am proud of, a video that took me out of my comfort zone, and some tees to sell at the event.
Thank you Adrian!
